Show-N-Tell Time

First of all, I can't tell you how excited I am to be a part of this over at Label Tulip:

You have to be there! So many fun activities planned! Including, this fun little Hambly mini-book that I will be teaching a little tutorial for. (Date and time of class TBA).


It is a GREAT way to use up all of those Hambly bits that I hoard (and, I know you do too *wink*), and all of those miscellaneous alpha stickers you have hanging around. I made it for Hazel. She loves looking at pictures of our family. So, now she has her own little book that is a constant reminder of the ones we love. It's also part of my submission for the Hambly DT try-outs that I am absolutely STOKED for! You can view the album in its entirety here. And, speaking of the Hambly DT try-outs, here is another LO that I just created for it...


Probably my new favorite LO. I just love how all the yummy, bright colors came together! I'm not gonna' hold my breath on this try-out because I know a TON of way talented ladies that are trying out. But, wish me luck anyway. Tee hee!

Well, I am off to enjoy a weekend of going-away parties, beach trips and some yummy food. Happy Friday everyone, and hope you all enjoy your weekend!

a fond farewell

Well, our time in Alaska has come to a close, and we'll be leaving for the airport in about an hour. It's always a little bittersweet to leave here, but I'm anxious to get home. I have all of my fingers and toes crossed that my plants survived the last couple of weeks. We shall see.

We had a great time while we were here. We got to visit with a lot of old friends, and some new ones. I finally got to meet this sweet chica...

You can't help but like Ruth! She's a total hoot to hang out with! Definitely wish she lived closer. We even got to meet up with some of our old military friends from up here. We used to have such a great crew to hang out with when Bryan was stationed here. I miss those guys TONS!

I finally put some glue to paper, and got my little gnomie project going...

This is going to be my little travel album. I'll just have to remember to take my little gnome friend along on our trips so that he can have his picture taken, and write about his many adventures. I'll finish my Alaska page when I get home. But, for now, at least the book is put together. I'll share more of that ongoing project.

Well, I had better get ta' crackin'. I have a few more things to pack before we head out for the airport. It will probably be a couple of days before I make a return to bloggy land. It always seems to take a little longer than expected to get settled back in at home. So, I hope that everyone had a great weekend! I'll be chattin' with you soon. But for now, I'll leave you with a funny little picture of Sake.

The poor little dear seems to have lost all of her puppy teeth at once. And, without any teeth to hold it in, her tongue just seems to loll out of her mouth all day long. Cute nonetheless, no?

So far...

this week, I have eaten some really yummy sushi.

That huge roll to the left is my fave! I've only found it at Pete's Sushi Spot in Anchorage. No where else. So when we come here, I have to grab one of those yummy Deanna rolls...crab and tempura-battered shrimp rolled in rice and seaweed then covered with a sweet teriyaki-ish sauce. Delish! I even managed to get the kids to eat their vegetables. They served Hazel's meal with tempura-battered vegetables, and I told her they were "chips." She loves chips. She ate them right up, only stopping once to ask why the middle of one of the "chips" (the sweet potato one) was orange. I told her they were "rainbow chips," and she continued to chow down. The things us parents will do to get some veggies into our kids' tummies!

This week, we've also played a rousing game of "Cootie,"


and did a little scrapbook shopping...

Yes, I know we got most of those October Afternoon goodies in this month's Label Tulip kit, but it was so yummy...I had to have more! Plus, I have big plans for this little guy, and all of those scrapbooking goodies...

Daddies Day, Bam-Pa and...

oh yeah...some Label Tulip?

First of all, I want to wish a happy Father's Day to all the dads in my life! We had a fabulous dinner at Sullivan's Steak House. My salmon way okay. But, Bryan thoroughly enjoyed his prime rib with super-hot horseradish, and that's all that matters. Besides, Sullivan's DOES make a mean martini! And, now that we're back at home, my creme brulee is sitting warmly in my tummy. So, I suppose it's time for a quick little blog.

Father's Day...the perfect day for Luka to say "Grandpa"! Actually, it comes out a little more like "Bam-pa," but Grandpa was thrilled to hear it. And, it was adorable to hear.

So are you ready for a little Label Tulip goodness?

Our challenge this month was to use a photo that we would otherwise consider "unworthy" of scrapbooking. These photos of me from around 7th grade definitely fit the bill. Not only was I caught totally off-guard by the photographer, but I'm sportin' the requisite big bangs of the 90's. SO embarrassing. So, there's a little peek of me that one wouldn't normally have access to.
Some cards...

I haven't had the desire to make too many cards since my days on the A Muse DT. But, I've been feeling the urge a little more lately. I think I'm going to make a little box to stash all of my cards in. That way, I can just grab one when some card-worthy event pops up. I'm tired of blowin' $$$ on Hallmark cards.

Our Guest Designer this month was Amy Tangerine, and this was my version of the LO of hers that we lifted. I had these pictures from when my grandfather was stationed in Japan during the days surrounding WWII, and had been dying to scrap them. I knew when I received this month's kit, that I finally had the product to do them justice.

And, last but not least...

A fun little door hanger using the age-old shaker box technique. Although, I might save it for a card.

As for me, I'm off to turn in some submissions for a couple of DT calls. Then, it's time to pop some popcorn, and settle in for this week's episode of Army Wives. Anyone who knows me, knows that there aren't too many shows that I am a die-hard fan for. But, this is one of them. I can't miss it. And, the season premiere was such a tear-jerker! I bawled my eyes out last week. It looks like it is going to be a great season!

Sneakage...

Ready for some peeks from this month's Label Tulip kit? Here we go...






I had such a hard time with this month's kit. Not that it isn't gorgeous...it TOTALLY is (as always, of course). My mojo just wasn't flowing at first. I had to do and re-do the first couple of LO's a few times before I got them just right. But, by the end, I was rollin', and got a little more done than usual. It's a little difficult when I'm not at my own house with my own stuff, but my mom has enough scrap supplies to open her own store. It just takes me a little while to find what I'm looking for. Anyway, I had a lot of fun with this kit, and ended up with some of my favorite projects ever. Check back tomorrow for the full reveal!

And, again, I seem to have fallen behind on my blog reading. I have been enjoying my time in Alaska with family and friends, and haven't spent any time on the computer. All of my free-time was spent creating the eye-candy awaiting you tomorrow. But, I plan to start playing catch-up tonight. I haven't forgotten about any of you! But, for now, I am off to dinner. Later gators!

Lions and tigers and bears...Alaskan-style

Okay, so there weren't really any lions, and all of the Siberian tigers died in the last year, but there were a couple of fabulous polar bears left at the Alaska Zoo.

And, I suppose the snow leopards took the place of the tigers quite nicely.

But, sometimes, nothing compares to what you find in your own backyard.

Well, if you're living in Alaska anyway. We don't have much more than birds and a few random squirrels back in North Carolina. At any rate, we made it safely to Alaska. And, although it isn't the tropical vacation of my dreams, we are having a great time! I've even found some time to get creative, and finished up my ATC's for the swap over at Label Tulip. So, if you are part of that swap, and want to be surprised, STOP! Spoiler ahead...

It has been a while since I've done ATC's, so I was a little rusty, and these weren't my best by far. But, I'm satisfied with how they turned out. The theme for the cards was "Relax." Whatever we do to relax, that's what we had to make a card about. I find gardening to be incredibly relaxing. Well, at least when it's cooler than the 100+ degrees that we left behind in NC. Anyway, gardening...that's what my cards were all about.
